The Sea God’s Revenge
Description
This serpentine axe-mace was once the weapon of Makura, a Lesser Son of Set. After Makura was defeated, Ponturos — who had been watching the battle — blessed the weapon, transforming it from an instrument of Set’s hatred into a holy relic of the sea.
The weapon retains its serpentine aesthetic—its head is shaped like a coiling sea serpent, with fangs that form the axe blade and a ridged spine that serves as the mace face. The handle is wrapped in what appears to be living kelp that never dries, and the pommel is a silver spiral (Ponturos’s symbol). The weapon radiates a faint blue-green glow in darkness.
The Church of the Silver Wave teaches that when Ponturos claims a weapon from an enemy, he doesn’t destroy it—he redeems it. The Sea God’s Revenge is proof that even instruments of evil can serve the tides.

- Venomous Strike (Su): The wielder can command the fangs to inject venom (usage die: d4, refreshes daily). On a successful hit, the target must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + 1/2 wielder’s level + wielder’s Con modifier). On a failed save:
- If the target has HD less than or equal to the wielder’s level: the target dies instantly.

- Tidal Fury (Su): The wielder can call upon Ponturos’s power (usage die: d4, refreshes daily). While raging, the weapon deals an additional 1d6 cold damage. For an additional usage die check, the wielder can turn into water and rain down on an enemy as a free action (treated as dimension door, but requires line-of-sight and can’t exceed the wielder’s movement speed).
- Redemption’s Call (Su): The weapon can spew a 15-foot cone of pressurized venom (usage die: d6, refreshes daily). Creatures in the area must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + 1/2 wielder’s level + wielder’s Con modifier) or take 1d6 acid damage per 2 HD and be blinded for 1d4 rounds. On a successful save, creatures take half damage and are not blinded.
