1. Thracian Authority (Su)
While wielding the staff, the wielder:
- May cast spells while threatened without provoking attacks of opportunity
This establishes the staff as command, not combat.
Signature Powers (The “War” Part)
These are declarative, wizard-first abilities.
3. Rewrite the Battlefield (ud4 charges / day)
As a full-round action, the wielder may choose one:
-
Change the terrain traits of a battlefield-sized area (up to 100-ft radius):
-
Difficult terrain becomes normal
-
Normal terrain becomes difficult
-
Stone becomes cracked, root-choked, or sacred ground
-
-
Suppress darkness, fog, or shadow effects of up to 8th level for 1 minute
This is wizard war: deciding how the fight happens.
4. Authority Over Magic (ud4 charges / day)
When a spell is cast within 60 ft, the wielder may:
-
delay the spell’s resolution by 1 round
-
Or redirect its area or target within legal parameters
No roll required unless opposing a deity-level effect.
This makes the wizard feel like the arbiter of spellcraft.
5. Thracia Remembers (ud4 / day)
If a creature dies within 60 ft:
-
The wielder may ask one question of the land itself
-
Functions like legend lore, but instant and specific
-
The answer is framed through Thracian memory, not omniscience
This replaces “loot-driven” progress with myth-driven revelation.
